Cryptocurrency
Also known as digital currency
A cryptocurrency is a digital asset that uses cryptography and, usually, a blockchain to record ownership and transfers without relying on a central bank or company to maintain the ledger. Holders control their funds with private keys and can send them directly to others over the network. Cryptocurrencies are used for payments, saving, trading and paying network fees. Their prices are often volatile, and legal treatment differs by country.
