Smart Contract
A smart contract is a program stored on a blockchain that runs automatically when its conditions are met. Because the code and its results are recorded on the shared ledger, anyone can check what it does and no single party can change how a deployed contract behaves unless upgrade options were built in. Smart contracts power token issuance, lending, trading and many other applications. Bugs in their code can be costly, so audits and testing matter.
