Sequencer
A sequencer is the component of a rollup or other layer 2 network that orders incoming transactions and groups them into batches before they are posted to the base chain. Many networks currently rely on a single sequencer operated by the project team, which can create risks of downtime or censorship. Plans to decentralise sequencing, or to share sequencers across networks, are an active area of development.
